Do you remember that moonlit night?
The night we saw together,
When the winter cold blanketed and brought us closer,
The cosmic magic that was singing in your eyes as you looked into mine,
Of how you squeezed my hands as I kissed your lips.
I went home that day as a new me,
Reborn in the ashes of your passion,
Awake in the arms of your love,
Crashed into my bed with your promises and vows,
Happy that you were mine to take.
Do you remember that moonless night?
The night when you said we were over,
When the summer heat rose as a wall and the distance between us grew longer,
The deep darkness that I saw in your eyes which left me dying,
Of how you pulled away as I tried to hold onto your fingertips.
I went home that day as a broken me,
Torn in the fires of your deception,
Dead in the arms of your hate,
Spiralled into myself with questions of whys and hows,
Crying that I wasn’t yours to make.
Now here I stand, under a star of brightest light,
Holding hands with a girl, who is going to remain in my life forever,
With Autumn leaves falling around us like snow shower,
There is neither magic nor darkness in her eyes but the image it holds is so fine,
The image of her world, around which I eclipse.
