Darling, all is lost, I fear,
I wrestled doom, the end is near.
First came the wolf, eyes like coal,
He growled so deep it shook my soul.
I threw a punch straight to his maw,
He barely flinched, unsheathed his paw.
I hurled a boulder in wild defense,
He bit it, broke it, pure violence.
Then from the woods, she appeared in grace,
Floating in the mist, no eyes, no face.
She wailed, she spun, she did ballet,
I threw a punch, but ghosts can’t melee.
Left with no choice, I held my ground,
I swung, I dodged, I danced around.
One side the beast, one side the wraith,
Between them, love, I dread what hurt would wait.
The wolf lunged first, his jaws a vice,
The ghost danced close, her touch was ice.
My fists were fire, my breath was steel,
But hearts, not hands, decide what is real.
So darling, if you find this note,
And not my body or my coat.
Know I was brave, I kept my oath,
I gave my all, I fought them both.
But darling…
all is lost.
